15th-place Finish for Great Clips Team in Iowa
Loose, loose, loose was the story of Brad Sweet’s day and night at Iowa Speedway. From the drop of the green flag, Sweet radioed crew chief Mike Bumgarner that his No. 5 Great Clips Chevrolet was too free, particularly on entry to turn three. The condition prohibited Sweet’s advances through the field as he was only able to charge as high as 14th before settling in 17th. Sweet eventually fell a lap down at lap 134 but was the beneficiary of the free pass under the final caution at lap 223. In the closing laps, Sweet picked off several spots to end the night 15th for his fourth top-15 finish in his last five Nationwide Series starts. Sweet’s next scheduled start will be at Kentucky Speedway (Sept. 21).

“Our Great Clips Chevy was really loose all night. My guys didn’t give up. We kept chipping away but on those long runs, we lost a lot of time early, then our lap times were pretty comparable to the top-10 guys. I’m happy that we were still able to get a top-15, but I was hoping for a little better run tonight.”
