Sweet Posts 12th-place finish in JRM Debut
Brad Sweet’s JRM debut in the Great Clips Chevrolet netted a 12th-place result for the No. 5 team in his first start at Las Vegas. Sweet hung on the cusp of the top-15 from the race’s outset. The team fell a lap down to the leaders on lap 175, as Sweet learned the nuances of the bumpy, 1.5-mile facility. His patient persistence landed him the lucky dog award, and once back on the lead lap, the team rallied to its finish.

“I think we took a lot of positive things away from this one. It felt good for me to get back on the track and get in the swing of a race weekend. I was disappointed with the weather yesterday because I could have used the track time. But sometimes you’re at the mercy of what Mother Nature gives you.
“We were all hoping for better results during the race, but I’ve got to remember it was our first race together and there will be learning experiences and growing pains. We did a solid job positioning ourselves to get back on the lead lap. That sometimes is a race in and of itself. All in all, I’m proud of everyone and we’ll definitely look to improve at Bristol next week.”
