Sweet Leads JRM Team with 13th-place Finish at Dover
Brad Sweet led the JR Motorsports duo in Saturday’s 5-Hour Energy 200 at Dover International Speedway with a 13th-place finish. For Sweet, his Great Clips Chevrolet muscled its way into the top-five early on before the team’s first pit stop under the race’s second and final caution at lap 35. Varying pit strategies shuffled Sweet to 18th for the ensuing restart and mired the No. 5 car in traffic for the remainder of the afternoon. At points of the race, spotter Kevin Hamlin radioed Sweet letting him know he was the fastest car on the track, but the lack of another caution prevented him from being able to make up lost ground. Sweet’s car became incredibly loose after the team’s final pit stop at lap 115 forcing him to settle for 13th.
Brad Sweet, driver No. 5 Great Clips team
“Our finish definitely doesn’t show how strong our car was. The Great Clips Chevy was fast right from the start and we drove into the top five. The strategy deal there cost us so much track position that we couldn’t really regain it and show how good we were. Then, after the last stop, we didn’t make the right adjustment and got really loose.”
